Lasers are used for many different things in dental. The type of laser and technique used depends on what procedure it is being used for.
Some examples of laser use in dentistry include:
Frenectomy: Lasers are used to remove or modify the frenulum (the tissue connecting the lip to the gum), which can alleviate issues like tongue-tie or lip-tie
Soft Tissue Procedures: Lasers are used for surgeries involving gums and other soft tissues, such as gum contouring, and biopsies. They can precisely cut or remove tissue with minimal bleeding and discomfort.
Periodontal Treatment: Lasers help in treating gum disease by removing infected tissue and bacteria from periodontal pockets, promoting faster healing and reducing the need for more invasive procedures.

At Toothlife Studios, are main use of laser treatment is during SRP therapy. We will often use laser treatment on specific areas of the mouth to promote additional healing in deeper pockets. Our dental hygienists utilize a diode laser in the treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis, and cold sores with great precision and efficacy. For gingivitis and periodontitis, the diode laser helps by targeting and decontaminating the pockets between the teeth and gums, reducing bacterial load and promoting tissue regeneration. This process also minimizes inflammation and supports the healing of the gum tissues.
